As usual the pictures don't do it justice. The day was incredible! We took Thang up on his tour offer and hopped on a scooter behind our trusty guide Ot. ( pronounced ope!) It was a trip diving into the Vietnamese traffic culture but after half a day you're a pro. We took off from Me Tho and headed out through the country side, along banana orchards, and many other unpronounceable fruit tree orchards, as well as some rice fields later down the road. What an amazing culture, tiny winding roads of stone, concrete and red dirt connecting everything like veins of a body. It's pretty amazing how the traffic works. Everyone is so tolerant of one another, working together and conscious of each other. Zero road rage. There are definitely many lessons here in Vietnam we north americans can learn from. And finally, the coolest part of the day was the unbelievable friendliness of the locals. Always saying hello and smiling, laughing, helping you out, trying to talk english to you, adorable school kids waving and yelling hello every chance they get. People constantly turning and staring and pointing, it was hilarious. You truly feel like a celebrity! Lots of laughter and over all compassion for ones fellow man. Incredible, coming from a country that has every right to have revenge in their hearts. So far, Vietnam kicks ass!
See the rats in the pics? Some people eat them!! We didn't try them. Eddie drank snake wine.
