Nha Trang is a huge tourist destination in Vietnam, a high percentage of which are Russian. It's long white beaches, land to island gondola and daily tours to several islands for diving and snorkelling are the main draw. We opted to avoid the tours and do our own thing as the reviews on snorkelling etc. were mixed.
We motorbiked around for a day and enjoyed some cafes. We met a Vietnamese couple at one spot, currently living in Hawaii. They were fun to talk to so we got what info we could from them regarding the rest of our trip. We hooked up with some girls currently studying at university in London. One a resident of London and the other from Calgary. We had a great time going for seafood dinners and also chatting with some other Brits and a South African fella all of which were living in Nha Trang teaching diving courses. Our last day there we scootered down the coast to a less busy spot. Beautiful beach, with the surroundings in preparation for grandiose resorts. Inevitable but a shame that these beach areas can't remain in their natural, more pristine states.
We are now off to Hoi An, via Da Nang.
